alma mater

While we graduated from good old Aquinas back in 2002, we can still have some school spirit... right?

Since I have a sibling who still attends the fine halls of STA, she brought something quite amazing to my attention:

  • Aquinas Girls' Tennis: State Title;

  • Aquinas Girls' Golf: State Title;

  • Aquinas Girls' Cross Country: State Title;

  • Aquinas Boys' Cross Country: State Title;

  • Aquinas Girls' Volleyball: State Runner-up;

  • Aquinas Boys' Soccer: State Title.

Out of 6 possible the Saints have 5 with a runner-up and football is in sub-state.

Hearing this, and the occasional high school gossip makes me feel like I am back in 2001. Gossip at Aquinas? guess some things never change....

PBR Happy Hour...er...photo shoot?

Fun times were had last night at PBR. So glad my friends could make it. Got to be out with a lot of people who I do not usually get to see at the bars. Mal and I most definitely had a good time taking "blog pictures" thanks to Lisa.

You might say we are excited about this new venture. Wish our own Tory could have been there to partake in the fun. We cannot wait to see her in exactly three weeks!!!!

First Fridays: Artfandango

My good friend and old house mate Paula Fagan is showing her art tonight down at First Fridays. I am not much of an art person but I truly do love Paula's art. It is full of life and passion just like her. Paula has worked with children her whole life and as you will see on her website this has not only influenced her work but also the person she has become. Which is a person with great character, brilliance, and deep wisdom. Not to mention one of the livliest personalities I have ever met. Paula now spends quite a bit of her time, about half the year, in Belize where she helps out at an orphanage. She does everything from help develope a great education for the children to giving the children the love and attention they deserve. This woman truly is a saint.

I would love for everyone to go see her tonight. I am definitely going to stop by and say hello. If you do not go to see her art....go to meet her. You can't miss her....she is the one with the bright red lips and a giant smile.

Lucky Charms

The weather has been pretty interesting lately with it being 70 and sunny on Monday and then freezing cold... I think it was 39 degrees when I got to work today. However... yesterday while it was raining I did happen to snap a picture of a pretty rainbow... Now if we could just find the pot of gold!!!

Boys Will Eat ANYTHING!!!

So Usually I am the main cook in the house... Which I do not mind at all... But yesterday when I arrived home from work there were a couple cream of ________ on the counter and some other seasoning stuff. I called Bubba and asked him if he wanted me to start dinner which he agreed to and then rattled off a list of directions. Let me just say... I will no longer trust one of the boy's recipes as something I am going to actually enjoy or get any nutritional value out of. The dish ended up being Beef Stroganoff?? (sp) This is literally a pot of noodles, some weird kind of meat, the cream of ______ cans, and a quart of sour cream. I tried a bite... It was okay.... But let me just say... It looked like dog barf. For future reference... if you are ever letting a boy cook dinner and the only thing on the stove is one big pot.... BEWARE! :)

beeeeeboppin in the chi.

beeeeebopping around KC? lets try chicago. As you may know, Chicago was the place to be yesterday if you were an Obamanite. I received several texts to see if I was attending. Does this look like somewhere you want to be if you get anxious from crowds?

Believe me, I witnessed this from my comfortable bed. More power to you if you can handle crowds without feeling like your throat is going to close up and the world is ending around you.

I am more of a happy, fun, personal-space kind of girl.

TORY JOINS THE BEEBOPPIN TEAM!!!!

YAY!!!! Tory is going to start blogging here!!!

Looking forward for some negaTORY sarcasm.

She may not be in KC but I am sure she is BeeBoppin in Chi Town.

Four Unnecessary Uses of Facebook Status

Let's discuss facebook status. There is nothing wrong with using the facebook status. But I think there are some unnecessary uses of the status which are either a blatant sign of immaturity or a cry for attention....most likely the latter.

  1. Creating awareness of your every move: Remeber pre-cellphones when you lived with your parents, did not have a car, and your friends found it necessary to change their answering machine message to let everyone know where they were? Well we are now using cell phones, live on our own, and have cars so it is not necessary to let everyone know that you are going to the gym, running to the grocery store or going to bed. No one cares so stop begging for attention.
  2. Emotional breakdowns: The only breakup emotions we want to hear about are Jennifer Aniston and John Mayer or someone in their social circle. The only friendship fight we paid attention to was Paris and Nicole. Unless you are a close friend of mine I really don't care that you think "it is going to be one of the good days." Don't worry...we will not miss your relationship status change.
  3. Implying without saying: Please please please stop teasing me. Telling me are "thinking" "making big decisions" or "regreting it" unless you are going to be specific. Stalking your facebook page messages to figure out what the heck you are talking about is wasting my time.
  4. The most recent being political opinion: I understand we all really want so and so candidate to win but the negativity really needs to stop. It is no way to make friends or a positive opinion of our country and no matter who is elected it is going to take the support of our country to really doing anything positive. Stop crying and say something positive that can help the country move forward not stand still and pout.

That being said I think the Facebook status is a great tool. It is fun and playful and even a great place to update people on your life...as long as you are not just beggin for attention.

P.S. Does anyone know someone who works at Xtreme Trips?

Welcome to BeeBoppin Around KC!

Hello! Mal and I decided over a Gchat conversation (weird right? no not really) that we would begin a blog together. The goal is to make this about our time in KC and wherever else the wind blows us. What will be the niche? Your guess as good as mine. But we are excited about it! So stay tuned.
